Students or Professional Photographers?

Image
The students in 6/7-L are working on photo essays; stories told through photographs and captions.  They were invited to select their own topics, with some choosing to focus on school-based topics while others are completing the task using a home-based subject matter. Earlier in the school year we spent some time focusing on iconic photographs in history and the elements that made those images so powerful.  We talked about good photography practices and strategies and then the students went off, some in groups and some by themselves, to capture their masterpieces.  Here is just a small selection of some of the photographs taken by students in 6/7-L.

Keeping Active in 6/7-L

Whether it's basketball in the gym or grooving to tunes in the classroom, most students in 6/7-L LOVE to be active. Even Mr. Johnny gets involved!

The Importance of Grit and Perseverance

In art class, the students have been working on a project where they create a symmetrical circle using 'pizza' slices, each of which is 1/12 of the overall shape.  This is a complex task that requires lots of patience and very careful and precise work.  Students who demonstrate those skills and exercise care and perseverance are producing some impressive work!
