6/7-L Remembers

After a delay due to an 'ice day', MTPS held its Remembrance assembly today.  Students in 6/7-L have been engaged in Remembrance activities for the past week.  These include our group wreath competition, where students, within their seating groups, designed a Remembrace Day wreath.  Mrs. Fleming's class decided the winning wreath.

We also had a visit last week from Lieutenant Peter Dibben, who is in the Royal Canadian Navy.  The Lieutenant was escorted from class-to-class by two of our own.  Thanks to Lily and Avery.

Students have also been working on Remembrance posters for the Royal Canadian Legion's annual contest.  I have included some of those in the images below.

The Remembrance assembly today featured some 6/7-Lers in prominent roles!  I want to thank Tenley who MC-ed the assembly with Addison.  You both did fantastic jobs!

Lincoln and Alanna had the honour of laying our class wreath during the ceremony.  Laughlin and Liam did a great job at the stage, assisting the little kids with their wreaths.

I also want to thank all of those students who took the time to find out about a relative who was in a war, and then share the story of their special person.  It's so important that we continue to learn and share these kinds of stories before they're lost to history.  Only a very small portion of those interviews were played during the assembly.  More to come.
