The Importance of Staying Active
Whether in the gym, classroom or outside at recess, the students in 6/7-L are generally a very active bunch. And that's a good thing. Brain research shows that a body break increases blood flow to the brain, which in turns helps children focus, and stay alert. I also use classroom body breaks as a method of transitioning from one activity to the next; I find body breaks are effective at helping the students shift focus to the new activity.
