Wait Until You See Some of These!
We launched a new visual arts project in 6/7-L in the week before the March Break. I call it expansion art or grid art. The idea is that the students select a sports team logo, mostly from the NHL. They create a grid system that covers the small logo they selected. They then take a much larger piece of grid paper, and recreate the logo box-by-box. In other words, what they see in box A-1 on the small logo will be transferred exactly to box A-1 on the chart paper-sized grid, thus 'expanding' the logo.
Check out some of the masterpieces.
