Eclipse, Estimating, Money and Angles - Busy Times in Math Class!
We spent some time working on math related to the upcoming solar eclipse, some of it quite complex as you will see below. It was super interesting to see the elapsed time between solar eclipses in areas across North America.
The students worked on some financial literacy, searching online flyers and using estimation skills to 'purchase' a variety of items that totalled less than $4000. Individual items had to be between $500 and $1000.

Mrs. Wilson stopped by the classroom last week to work with the students on using number lines to help solve problems. She will be at MTPS once a week to work with small math groups from 6/7-L.
A couple of times a week, we spend time specifically honing our estimation skills. We use the web program, Estimation 180 to practice these skills. Below, the students are holding up whiteboards with their best estimates on a variety of situations.
