A National Award for One of Our Teachers

Image
My teaching colleague and friend Angela Burr has been recognized on the national level with a Certificate of Achievement through the  Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence in STEM program.   Ms. Burr was recognized for her creative and innovative teaching methods that spark student interest and inquiry-based learning, and often involve community experts who come into her classroom to share their expertise and knowledge.   I have had the opportunity to work with Angela on many of her class projects, and know first-hand the time, effort, thought and loving-care that she puts into her job as an educator. Students in 6/7-L & 7/8-F Celebrate at Wonderland

Image
After a brief hiccup (bus company had the wrong day), students in 6/7-L and 7/8-F had a fantastic day on June 11th, making life-long memories with their friends at Canada's Wonderland. I wanted to extend a huge thank you to our volunteer parents.  Without you, trips like this would never be possible.  You have helped to provide a wonderful experience for our as they celebrate the end of the school year.  Thank you so much for this.

Hands-On Coding with Microbits & Practicing Skills Through Math Games

Our math specialist, Mrs. Wilson, brought in some Microbits, which are small electronic devices programmed to complete a variety of tasks by following code which is created by the students through a computer program.  We have been spending time recently, reviewing and practicing math skills through small-group math games.  Check out the pics below.
